cheery on the cake
I am a Punjabi by birth, nature, behaviour, attitude and what not! And Punjabis are known for their generously big hearts and versatile personalities. For us Punjabis, grand is our second name. We want everything big and grand. We love and celebrate grandness in our own unique ways.
We are a bunch of crazy Punjabi family so we are little mad, little eccentric, little flamboyant, little rebels, almost little of everything. As a mom, i would do anything to make my kids happy. My kids are growing up fast. My son’s birthday was around the corner. Before telling you the whole story, I must tell you that my son has entered in his pre-teens and has started throwing hormonal induced tantrums and want things his way only. He gets angry and frustrated easily and throws his weight around, sits on hunger strikes and what not! So, on his birthday he wanted everything drastically different from cake to decorations, to return gifts, to his own outfit. I tried almost all kids wear websites selling clothes but he did not seem to like any outfit. I also tried people selling kids outfits on Facebook and Instagram but he would literally crib looking at the pictures. He would refuse to speak to me because I was unable to find him exactly what he wanted. He would behave sullen and I was there frustrating over my incapability to find him a perfect pair of his liking for his 10th birthday. He was literally getting angrier with me as days were passing by.
One day my daughter was looking pics on Facebook when she saw an advertisement on Facebook and it was for kids clothing. She yelled to call her brother. He was in no mood to budge from his place as winters had already come and he was upset too! After several callings, my daughter just ran to him and showed him the advertisement. It was from “cherry crumble California”. He got excited and kept scrolling each and every outfit that was there. He took almost 15 screenshots of the jackets he wanted and that was too much. He told me to buy them all and I was clueless how? But I was happy at least he found variety of clothes he was looking for.
Now I was amused as he wanted me to order them all so I decided to play along. I applied a trick. I told him that we will play a fantastic game and it is going to be a fun game which we can play for the entire year. I asked him to order the clothes by giving them numbers within hundred and he did the same. And then I told him the most interesting part that we will buy one per month according to the numbers they scored. In this way, we will save money also on monthly basis and you will get to wear new clothes all year round. Needless to say, my trick worked, all thanks to divine power who just saved me from another hormonal tantrum. We both were happy till a new issue cropped up!
Now, it was my daughter’s turn to throw tantrums for getting new clothes because she too picked up liking for almost all clothes. And here I was, exhausted with pleasing them. So, finally I bought clothes for both of them. They were too much excited for the clothes too arrive. Checking my mobile ten times a day became a norm for them till the courier guy landed with their parcel of happiness.
Now began, another taxing work; of getting their model type pictures clicked. They literally dragged me to many places to get their pictures clicked till I snoozed. And you can see my hard work where my munchkins are looking million dollars.
